Much nicer than most Vietnamese restaurants you encounter. The windows are foggy from of all the steam coming from the bowls that sit at the tables. It also comes with a small cup of Wanton Soup. I highly recommend eating here! Located in a strip mall the restaurant is more spacious with better lighting and décor. Been going to Doan's downtown location north for superior Vietnamese food in Edmonton, for decades This was the 1st time I'd tried their Strathcona south location. For larger parties 8+ they've jumped on the bandwagon and add a 15% lunch or 18% dinner service charge. Highly recommended for those who like things old school and tasty. While the interior is simple, the menu is extensive and the service quick. In order to bring our customers the best Vietnamese meals, our food and preparation is always top quality and is never sacrificed. Thankfully, the line moves fast. I base all other Vietnamese restaurants on how they compare with Doan's.

If I dine by myself, I usually order a combo platter. The beef was well marinated, while the prawns were cooked perfectly on a skewer. There is pretty well always a line, but it moves quickly because the servers take orders in drill-sergeant fashion and get the pho orders out at a pace that would stun most fast-food joints. For those that are joining us for a family dinner, we highly recommend ordering one of our freshly prepared rice dishes. This tasty bowl is a combination of beef, chicken, or pork, with shrimp, sausage and spring rolls. The combo I ordered this time, was the Grilled Sliced Beef And Prawns. It comes on steamed rice, veggies with pieces of chicken breast in a broth type sauce. No matter what meal you choose, we can guarantee it will satisfy your hunger! About Pho Hoan Pasteur is a fusion noodle house serving quality, authentic Vietnamese fare in Edmonton and Calgary since 2005. The steak and brisket is the go-to option, though you can add meatballs and tripe if you wish. The whole meal was very good. The kitchen and the dining area are also very clean. Each dish includes rice, egg, bean sprouts, peas, and carrots.
The cup of Wanton Soup was small, but hit the spot. We specialize in pho, vermicelli bowls, and rice plates. With its mixture of flavours and textures, most will find some element of the dish to love. Pho Binh Dan is Edmonton's number one destination for the best pho, rice dishes, Shanghai noodles, and many more exceptional Vietnamese meals. Both Doan's locations are tastefully decorated and very pleasant to eat in.
I'd return, but I still prefer the downtown restaurant, even though this one has 'way better parking. The flavours here, you won't find at other places. For the indecisive when it comes time to order, Golden Bird is a dream come true — there are many dishes where you can sample three, four or five items atop a bed of rice or vermicelli noodles. Some of these dishes are offered in other Vietnamese restaurants, but none come close to the types of flavours like you'll find at Doan's. Even for a weekday lunch, the lineup at the 109th Street restaurant runs 10 to 15 deep.
The five stars on vermicelli includes ginger beef, one of its famous spring rolls, and a trio of grilled meats — shrimp, chicken and pork. Try the Grilled Pork Chop, Vietnamese Egg Pie on Steamed Rice, Tofu Fried Rice, or the Deep-Fried Chicken Over Fried Rice. Our friendly staff, affordable prices, and prompt service will leave you truly satisfied. The menu is for the most part unchanged and that is a good thing - rich soups, great lemongrass options and just the right amount of heat. They also did a good job cooking the vegetables, keeping them firm. Bowls of pho come in small and large sizes, but let it be known that the large is, well, really large.
